Holden Joins Forces With Protect Our Winters To Spread Environmental Activism

Holden is proud to announce our new tee shirt collaboration with Protect Our Winters (POW) to be released August 2012. Holden artist John Phemister, aka Goo, has designed a unique collection of tee shirts featuring abstract watercolor art titled “The Four Elements”. All proceeds from this collection will go towards POW’s recently launched Coal Kills Snow coalition. The project is dedicated to shutting down coal mines and spreading education about environmental destruction from mining practices and coal burning. Coal is the number one contributor to global climate change. To stop this, Holden and POW have come together to ensure there is snow to play in for our future generations to come. Holden X Pow tee shirts will be available at holdenouterwear.com and selected shops.

Desillusiøn x Nixon present “THIS IS TROUBLE”

Dedicated to the life and work of Trevor “Trouble” Andrew, Desillusiøn magazine x Nixon proudly present the launch of their latest collaboration.

Last fall, Desillusiøn magazine followed Trevor on a journey around Brooklyn and New York City. The short documentary shows the city, its people, music and art scene out of Trouble’s very own perspective, while sharing his vision of life and the board sports culture. “This is Trouble” captures some unique and intriguing footage of a personality and creative mind, inspired by snowboarding and rock’n’roll.

The movie introduces the 1st issue of Desillusiøn magazine’s new Guest Editor series to celebrate its 10-year anniversary. Trevor Andrew, who has been part of the Nixon family for many years, will make the debut of this line of six special issues, dedicated to some of the main characters of the board sports, art and music culture that inspired Desillusiøn magazine for the last decade.

2013 CAPiTA Snowboards at SIA

The CAPiTA booth at SIA is always a busy spot. Jess Kimura’s trifecta at the Riders’ Poll Awards only added to the chaos. Three entirely new boards are being added to the lineup for the 2012/2013 season. The DBX: The Dan Brisse Experience, the Defenders Of Awesome FK and the new women’s BIrd’s Of A Feather FK.

Starting with the flagship of the CAPiTA line, The Black Snowboard Of Death. The BSOD integrates camber where you need it for power and stability through variable terrain with reverse camber where you want it for control in powder conditions. The BSOD also features Death GripTM – a unique reverse sidecut blend in the midsection of the board to complement this hybrid camber design. This combination retains high-speed control in any situation and continues to build upon the Black Death legacy.

The all new DBX: Dan Brisse Experience, CAPiTA x Volcom Collaboration featuring CAPiTA’s new RFC Sustainable Bamboo Dual Core, Basalt V-tech reinforcements, Freeride FK camber profile, and a Totally FK’n Awesome shape.

The Totally FK’n Awesome features a Freeride FK camber combination with elevated contact points are rockered just enough to float through soft snow, while the cambered midsection and slightly reversed sidecut arc allow you to grip it and rip it – staying in complete control.

Park, pipe, jibs, jumps, or just hauling ass on groomed runs, the Stairmaster Extreme is one the most versatile traditional camber freestyle boards on the market. It features an epoxy glass configuration, sintered base, and new lowered cambered construction so it’s fast, strong, and has mad-pop off park jumps. Combine that with a specially designed dampening system placed along the edge between the inserts, and these boards yield enhanced impact resistance as well.

The Indoor Survival FK features Freestyle FK camber, with a level base from insert to insert and reverse camber outside of the inserts at the nose and tail. These Transworld SNOWboarding Good Wood award winners are one of the best-selling and most successful lines in CAPiTA history.

Somehow we missed getting an image of the Outdoor Living, but here’s the deal… CAPiTA has zeroed out the camber on The Outdoor Living for the 12/13 season. The new zero camber from contact point to contact point shape offers the stability of a traditional running length while feeling slightly looser and easier to ride. Without going full rocker, they feel poppy, fun and catch-free.

CAPiTA launched the Normal Ass Snowboard last year, and so many people were feeling the stripped-down graphics and traditional design package that they brought it back for 2012 with seven sizes including three wide models. Comfortable and stable out of the box while still quick edge-to-edge, these boards can handle anything with a price tag hundreds of dollars less than its Good Wood peers.

The Mid Life Zero series is a true twin with a wider frame, slightly deeper sidecut, more pronounced shoulders, and distinctive tip and tail shapes. With zero camber from contact point to contact point, these boards are easy to press on rails and boxes. The zero camber also smoothes turn initiation at the contact points, yet retains stability by engaging the entire effective edge.

The Horrorscope FK is one of the best urban and park boards in the game, featuring pre-loaded reverse camber positioning for expert level jibbers and easy turnin’, mindless shreddin’ for those intermediate riders who want to expedite the learning curve in the park.

With bombproof construction and a new lowered camber, the Stairmaster is smaller, wider, softer, and designed for maneuverability around the park.

Still the parallel to the men’s Stairmaster series, the Saturnia has the new lower camber for 12/13 and is even easier to ride and up for anything.

Jess Kimura’s board of choice, the Space Metal Fantasy FK is modeled after the Horrorscope FK. The reverse camber Flat Kick application of the SMF obviously yields some awesome results. Elevated contact points provide a very forgiving, fun experience for intermediate riders looking to expedite the learning curve, and pre-loaded reverse camber positioning helps expert level jibbers looking to impress.

The Bird’s Of A Feather FK is the completely new lady’s board for 12/13. Designed as a women’s parallel to the new Defenders of Awesome series seen at the left in the pic above. The Defenders of Awesome FK graphic is of the black metal babes band Sorceress and is just plain badass. Both the men’s and women’s versions in the series are true-twin hybrid camber all terrain snowboards with 5cm of positive camber past the inserts, zero camber just outside the inserts and reverse camber into the nose and tail. These boards have all the pop and responsiveness you would expect from a cambered board with the predictability of a flat or reverse camber board and were damn fun to ride.

2013 Ashbury Eyewear at SIA

The 2012/2013 lineup from Ashbury Eyewear is looking good as always with a new goggle frame, new lens options and an expanded softgoods selection. The New goggle frame, the Bullet, offers the first spherical lens in the Ashbury lineup and comes in the slightly higher price range of $110 – $130, depending on the lens and frame combination. In addition to the lens options of previous season, new lens options for all frames will include Black Smoke, Gold Mirror, and Blue Mirror lenses.

More of everything to choose from in the softgoods department including two new beanie styles and two coaches jackets for Fall 2012.
